Are People Noticing Your Success?

We want to share something that is very important on your journey to weight loss.

As you go along you'll notice that people might start to 'harmlessly' say sabotaging things to you (watch out for day 8, 9 and 10 when things begin

to look a little bit different for you), but these comments come in very different forms.

You see, sometimes those closest to us or even our coworkers, etc. are very uncomfortable with you deciding and putting the effort into change...

because they are not changing.

This is called 'The Crab Theory'... Have you heard of this? This theory began in the deaf community and it talks of crabs being in a bucket and as one crab is trying to pull itself up out of the bucket all of the other crabs

start clawing away at the one crab that they see are rising to the top, but they will

continue to try to bring the crab down so it will never rise so it will stay with them

where it is safe and mediocre.

I allowed the Crab Theory to get me after my first 20 pound initial weight loss.

I am not blaming my loss of success at that time on anyone but myself,

but what I am saying is that I allowed people's continuous comments to wear me

down slowly over time and slowly I let little things become 'ok' again.

I learned a lot about myself during this time and it was invaluable and if this is you

I would love for you to learn from this before it could happen to you because it's a

very good feeling to have this behind me.

Looking back at that time if I would have continued on my path of success, 'they' would

have got used to my new way of eating and my new look and instead of trying to please others ,

at the risk of losing my hard earned goals, I now know better.

**** Making others comfortable while we are succeeding is not our concern,

but being a light for them to follow is. ******

*What are you doing NOW? *Oh, you're not eating bread, when did you start this? *You look so good why would you be doing this? *You don't need to lose any more weight! *One bite is not going to hurt! *Oh I've tried that before and it didn't work... *Have one more bite...it's so good! *Oh you've got to try this, I made it for you! *No way you'll see me doing that, I could never give up (my wine, bread, dairy, sugar, etc....

We say: Stay Strong! Stay focused! Stay Vigilant! Stay the course and instead of allowing others to change you....YOU change others! You've got this!
