A few years ago my hair was breaking off like I've never seen. At first I thought it was something I was using (hair dryer...curling iron...a certain product.) It was breaking off so fast and the texture was changing so rapidly that I remember calling Stacey, my twin sister (who's a hair stylist) and saying; "My god....it's all over my bathroom, all over my clothes...it's everywhere!" She said..."Susan, it's your body showing signs...you've JUST GOT TO change something!" She knew all that was going on in my life at that time, and of course KNEW I was s-t-r-e-s-s-e-d! She calmly warned me she had been with many clients thru stressful times and saw balding and hair loss at such a high rate... BUT ...that when the times of stress passed she saw it literally grow back. The odd thing was....my hair wasn't falling out from the root, it was just snapping off as you can see in this picture...ughhhh...there were other things happening too in my body...but this was the most obvious! ENTER ALERT TIME: It was now no longer about the way I looked...I was getting scared because I KNEW this was internal. That 8 months to a year was hard, there is just no other way to put it. I soon discovered that hair is one of the first things that the body goes for in times of stress. "Hair was an asset but NOT essential to good health and that our bodies intrinsically know that. Hence, our body puts all of it's energy into making sure our vital organs are functioning properly and does not waste precious resources on our hair!" Did I mention I was over weight at this point by 20+ pounds. Hello - the signs were everywhere, I was in need of a major reverse button!!! And reverse I did... My sister captured this picture of the back of my head...I know it's not the most exciting picture but it was such a reminder of where I was when I was in that dark period. It appears my hair is wet or I was at a pool in the before pic- but this is actually me dressed for an event- I was at a cocktail party in this picture! The moral of the story and why I am so passionate about helping others is things change when we change! Sometimes you can't find the answer, trust me I get that- but keep digging...it's there! I share this story of my hair with those that may have this going on...because if you do have it going on...maybe it will be a slight comfort that it is your body shouting to stop the stress, pivot, turn and do things differently. I changed careers...lost 24 pounds...started doing what I love which is helping other people feel better and it began to all come back! More importantly than my hair coming back, I came back. YOU CAN TOO! Contact us if your spirit is begging you to transform! We are here to help you do just that.
